Logo refresh for BigRush, a portal for non-motorized adventure sports from the Indian sub-continent.
BigRush is a small, dynamic outfit with a sharp eye on the adventure & extreme sport scene in India. With a growing following in the great outdoors, they sought a boost for their logo as well. A quick discussion with BigRush crystallized the idea of adding punch and motion to the existing logo; to make fresh without throwing away the familiar. The earlier meditative triangle morphed into a spinning wheel graphic. In the ‘R’ some see a mountain trail, others a wave and yet others a boomerang in flight.
BRAND GRAPHICS FOR ASTR BICYCLES
Astr is a new brand of premium imported bicycles being marketed in India by The Bike Affair, Hyderabad. The design assignment was part of their launch campaign being managed by Boomerang Sports, Goa. Their objective was to create a uniquely Indian identity to stand apart from the slew of imported brands now available in the country. The name and visual identity had to reflect Mobility, Indian-ness, and Power.
The word Astr (from Sanskrit) means a 'weapon', but the logo aims to convey a more nuanced notion – a means of empowerment. Working closely with Boomerang Sports, a wide range of ideas were created to bring out the essence of Astr, finally settling on the rising arrow visual in yellow and black to convey energy and purpose.
The furniture design project 'The Magician's Chest ' involved illustrations for this piece designed for children in the age group of 4-8 years. The large surface on the front shutter was perfect for eye-catching illustrations. The second shutter revealed more.
The illustrations were screen printed with a limited number of colors in order to keep costs to a minimum.
